It is not an actual hostel, but more of an apartment in a historical building- however, if you want your privacy, it is ok, for a real hostel spirit, look elsewhere. The room was big but a bit cold, and it didn´t look like the one on the pictures. For the price it is a decent stay in walking distance from the city center. Plus is the presence of a small supermarket and various cafes and restaurants on the street. Great was also no strict check-out time.

The owner himself came to our room and explained to us on a map, things to do in Budapest, which was really nice of him.

Liked: The main advantage of this hostel is the location. Very close to metro line, Danube, interesting restaurants and pubs with craft beer.

Disliked: There was one annoying thing in this hostel: Lack of bowls andcups/glasses. It seems that kitchen utencils are a little bit decimated and few things should be added.

More like apartments than a hostel but an amazing location! The street has loads of cheap great restaurants. The owner is very helpful- just make sure you let them know when you are planning to arrive as there's no 24 hour reception.

It was such a pleasure staying at Age Budapest Hostel! It's a good location if you want to do day trips. It was easy to find, close to the tram and metro station, rooms were very spacious. I'll definitely be back soon

If you are looking for somewhere cheap in Budapest and are not fussed about cleanliness this is the place for you! We got in a taxi from the train station and it took us to the end of the hostel's street. We walked up and down this street 4 times and could not find the number of the place, expecting there to be a sign which said "hostel." This street is gorgeous which great restaurants up and down both sides. Eventually found the sign on a tiny buzzer and went in. There was 3 flights of massive stairs which we climbed and still couldn't find a door for a hostel, everything looked like personal apartments. Two boys were coming up the stairs so we asked them and they were staying there so they took us up to the top floor. The owner Peter is a lovely man but when we arrived someone inside the hostel, a girl who was staying there, had to phone him for us and he then said he would be half an hour which turned into an hour. We were both so hungry and tired of waiting that when he came and told us we were downstairs we couldn't believe the mix up. He took us into an apartment and handed us our bed sheets, which were damp to wet, not a good start. Peter then explained all about Budapest and places to go which was great. He left and I went into the bathroom, the bath was disgusting and there was a soaking wet squelchy towel on the ground for you to stand on. The shower head was one you had to hold above yourself. The shock of all this was horrible the first night as it was late and we were tired but after getting over the wet sheets and horrible bathroom the place was actually nice. We had a massive room with great storage and we were able to walk everywhere from the hostel or jump on the underground which was close by too.

Liked: The host, Peter was very friendly and we had the kitchen beside our room and a bathroom shared with another guest but we didn't ever meet them so it was like our own ensuite. The location was great too as everything was a walk away

Disliked: Our booking said that we would receive a double room and my understanding of it was that I would get a double bed but we received a bunk bed for two instead.

Peter, the owner was a brilliant, friendly, helpful and accommodating host from the very start. The location of the apartment is great. Very near Danube, Central Market, public transport and Jewish Quarter. There is a money changer on the street with a very good rate. We had the budget double room which was very basic but comfortable. A double bunk bed with a sofa underneath (which is a little bit squeaky). The facilities, kitchen, toilet, bathroom, WiFi are all great. No complaints at all. For what you pay I don't think you could get a better deal in such a great area. Peter is also the perfect proprietor which makes the experience all the better! I definitely recommend this place if you are on a budget and want a little privacy.
